NHS Eye Care Services

The new NHS Eye Care Service is now fully operational and started receiving patients from 3rd June

The new NHS Eye Care Service is now fully operational and started receiving patients from 3rd June 15. The service DOES NOT require a GP referral a it operates on an open access basis and each practice has been sent a poster and patient leaflets offering details of the service and the eye care centres across Coventry and Rugby. The take up rate has been extremely high as patients  in many cases are being seen and treated within 48hrs of being contacted.

Once a patient has been seen the eye care centre will advise the practice either by letter through the DOCMAN system or by secure email to ensure the patients records are kept up to date and practices are fully informed as to the treatment and care received by their patient. The service has been developed for a number of reasons, one being to divert patients away from GP practices to an eye care professional able to see and treat many common eye conditions, helping to release capacity within GP practices.

Children
The NHS eye care centres will see children above 3 years old.

Please Note: The following centres are NOT able to examine or treat patients as part of this service until further notice. Central Surgery Eye Clinic – Rugby and Boots Optician – City Centre Coventry. There are other centres available across Coventry & Rugby, the locations and opening times are shown at the link below.
