Community Dermatology Services in Coventry and Warwickshire

Vita Health Ltd delivers a network of Community Dermatology Clinics across Coventry and Warwickshire that provides patients with the opportunity to access timely, accessible, good quality dermatology services that are close to home

The aim of the service will be to diagnose and treat patients in a single appointment and provide follow up appointments proportionately in line with patient need and risk

Referral

Coventry and Warwickshire patients will access the service via a referral from a Coventry and Warwickshire GP to the Community Dermatology Service using e-RS.

GPs will be able to access the referral form via EMIS

Inclusion criteria
  • Patient overage of 16 years
  • Management of mild to moderate forms of common rashes such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, urticarial and fungal infections
  • Benign lesions for non-cosmetic reasons practices, as per ICB policy
  • Premalignant skin lesions such as Actinic Keratosis or Bowen’s disease
  • Low risk BCCs on trunks and limbs
  • Acne (Including the prescribing of Roaccutane / Isotretinoin) excluding patients with co-morbidities, special educational needs and disabilities 
  • Minor surgical procedures as clinically indicated
  • Conditions of hair scalp and nails
  • Genital Dermatology (excluding sexual health conditions)
Exclusion criteria
  • 2 week wait cancer referrals
  • High risk BCC (any above clavicle or >2cm diameter below should be referred to secondary care with 2WW for some on special sites)
  • DMARDS/ Biologics
  • Patch testing
  • Leg ulcers – please refer to leg ulcer pathway
  • Acute infections needing inpatient treatment e.g. cellulitis
  • Benign skin lesion for cosmetics reasons e.g. warts, skin tags
  • Severe inflammatory skin disease requiring non-conventional therapy
  • Specialised skin surgery
  • Life threatening skin disease
  • Non-malignant lymphoedema
  • HIV; infectious disease of the skin; leprosy
  • Photodynamic therapy; UV light therapy; Laser treatment
  • Vascular Eczema
  • Genetic dermatology
  • Procedure Exclusions: Clinically urgent procedures; Procedures related to the treatment of malignant diseases, except for low-risk BCCs below the clavicle; Cosmesis of benign lesions

Secondary Care Dermatology

The New Community Dermatology Service will work closely with Secondary Care to ensure the onward referral of appropriate patients and in establishing MDTs
