

About Primary Care Dermatology – Coventry & Warwickshire
In line with patient choice guidance, Coventry and Warwickshire ICB have recently accredited Coventry & Warwickshire Integrated Primary Care (CW IPC) to provide Community Dermatology Services in Coventry and Warwickshire, as an additional choice for patients

CW IPC and Vita Health Group will deliver community dermatology clinics across Coventry and Warwickshire that provides patients with the opportunity to access timely, accessible, good quality dermatology services that are close to home
The aim of the service is to diagnose and treat patients in a single appointment and provide follow up appointments proportionately in line with patient need and risk
The Vita Health Group service has been operational since October 2023 and the CW IPC service goes live on 1st April 2025
Referral
Coventry and Warwickshire patients can access community dermatology services via a referral from a Coventry and Warwickshire GP using e-RS
GPs can access the referral form via EMIS
Inclusion criteria
Registered with a Coventry or Warwickshire GP
16 years old or over
The conditions which will be covered by this community service include:
- Management of mild to moderate forms of common rashes such as eczema, psoriasis, lichen planus, urticarial and fungal infections
- Benign lesions for non-cosmetic reasons practices, as per ICB policy
- Premalignant skin lesions such as Actinic Keratosis or Bowen’s disease
- Low risk BCCs on trunks and limbs in line with NICE skin cancer guidance 2010
- Acne (Including the prescribing of Roaccutane)
- Diagnosis, investigation or management of other chronic rashes, unless diagnostic doubt
- Minor surgical procedures
- Diagnosis, investigation or management of mild/moderate/non-worrying dermatoses and skin lesion in children unless diagnostic doubt
- Conditions of hair scalp and nails
Exclusion criteria
- 2 weeks wait cancer referrals
- High risk BCC (any above clavicle or >2cm diameter below should be referred to secondary care with 2WW for some on special sites)
- DMARDS/ Biologics
- Patch testing
- Leg ulcers – please refer to leg ulcer pathway
- Acute infections needing inpatient treatment e.g. cellulitis
- Severe inflammatory skin disease requiring non-conventional therapy
- Specialised skin surgery
- Life threatening skin disease
- Non-malignant lymphoedema
- HIV; infectious disease of the skin; leprosy
- Photodynamic therapy; UV light therapy; laser treatment.
- Vascular Eczema, Vasculitis
- Genetic Dermatology

- Beech Tree Medical Practice, Rugby Health and Wellbeing Centre Rugby CV21 3HX
- Manor Court Surgery 5 Manor Court Avenue Nuneaton CV11 5HX
- Spring Hill Surgery Phil Collins Way Old Arley Coventry CV7 8FD

What does this mean for patients?
Patients will now have a choice of Community Dermatology providers
From 1st April 2025 all new patients that meet the criteria for the service, can be referred to the new service offered by CW IPC OR to the existing provider of the service, Vita Health Group. via their GP (on eRS)
There will be no change for patients already referred into Vita Health Group
Patients should only be referred to one of the providers
