Coventry and Warwickshire Eating Disorder Service

Coventry and Warwickshire Eating Disorder Service is a new service, and brings together 2 previous teams:

• Coventry Eating Disorder Service (CEDS)
• Aspen Outpatient Service (South Warwickshire)

This service development has occurred following significant investment and is part of NHS Transformation and sets out to provide parity of care, place based care, increased treatment pathways and removal of access barriers

The service aims to provide expert screening, triage, assessment, treatment, support and advice to service users and stakeholders

It is aimed at assessing and treating individuals experiencing a range of eating difficulties and eating disorders including Anorexia Nervosa (AN), Bulimia Nervosa (BN), Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder (OSFED), and Type 1 Diabetes with Disordered Eating (T1DE)

We currently offer assessment only for Binge Eating Disorder (BED) and Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID), however we are currently in the process of developing treatment pathways to open as soon as possible

Coventry and Warwickshire EDS is a multi-disciplinary (MDT), multi-agency team and is MDT led with a single point of access into the service

Coventry and Warwickshire EDS offers services to those individuals aged 18 and above and will work with the full range of eating disorder diagnoses, including those who have an autism and eating disorder diagnosis

The team will ensure that the transition for child and adolescent services; (RISE EDS) where suitable; is seamless, with joint working from age 17 years and 6 months

The Aspen Centre, Warwick and Type 1 Diabetes and Disordered Eating Service (T1DE)

The clinic for eating disorders and diabetes at the Aspen Centre in Warwick is a specialist service for people with any form of diabetes who have problems with eating

The service is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of experts in both eating disorders and diabetes and we understand the complexity off the problems that people with diabetes face

Our Type 1 Diabetes and Disordered Eating (T1DE) Service is one of 5 national pilot sites which have been set up by NHS England

The Aspen Centre  also includes our 15 bed inpatient unit, which provides treatment for patients with severe anorexia nervosa and related disorders

We get referrals from across the country and take patients aged 17 and over
