Ptosis (children)

Ptosis is a drooping or falling of the upper eyelid.

All children under the age of 7 with any degree of ptosis beyond a 1mm difference between the eyes or any degree of obstruction of the pupil require referral. Even the smaller ptosis is at risk of causing astigmatism and subsequent amblyopia in the affected eye.
