Hyaluronic injections for osteoarthritis

Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes joints to become painful and stiff. It's the most common type of arthritis in the UK.

Injections of hyaluronic acid for the treatment of osteoarthritis (Ostenil, Synvisc) are not funded, in view of NICE guidance on the lack of cost-effectiveness.

They are funded for treatment of patients with pain from early chondral damage within the knee.  An internal prior approval process is in place within UHCW.
