Indications for referral to UHCW

Primary Care Professionals unable to locate cervix for patients requiring cervical smear test   i.e. patients with high BMI or patients with high anxiety

Referral procedure

Cervical Smear where exceptional circumstances of difficulty (not routine colposcopy or uncomplicated screening)

Referral requirements

Please state on referral  if patient has any other difficulties such as limited mobility, inability to abduct hips and therefore difficulty in undergoing vaginal examination.

Please include the following:

• Details of current condition and any relevant medical & surgical history
• Current medications
• Relevant scans and investigations results
• Allergies
• Any interpreter and specific language requirements
