URGENT SUSPECTED CANCER SERVICES – LUNG
Indications for an urgent referral for a suspected new malignancy are (see NICE Guidance link)
Chest X-ray
- Suggestive of lung cancer
- Unilateral pleural effusion
- Non-resolving consolidation within 6 weeks
- Normal chest X-Ray with high suspicion of lung cancer/ mesothelioma
- Unexplained haemoptysis (> 40 years)
- Abnormal scan elsewhere
Pre-investigations required of G.P: Chest x-ray, U&E’s within 3 months
