A person may experience some of the following with Personality Disorder:
- intense and extreme emotions
- feeling as if the rest of the world doesn’t understand them and that they are alienated and alone
- difficulty keeping and maintaining relationships
- repeating unhelpful patterns of behaviour
- feeling that their problems have become part of who they are
- finding it hard to focus on more than one thing at a time
- ways of thinking that are disorganised or disordered
- self-harming to cope with painful emotions
- using drugs and/or alcohol to cope with painful feelings
- difficulty controlling impulses
- risk-taking activities e.g. gambling, dangerous driving
- having suicidal thoughts and feelings
