Providing quality maternity services is a key priority for South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT)
To ensure we maintain the highest standards of care and safety, the Trust has made a difficult decision to review and update their acceptance criteria for these services
From 1st August 2025, priority will be given to women and birthing people who are registered with a GP in the Coventry and Warwickshire Integrated Care System (ICS)
For individuals outside of Coventry and Warwickshire, eligibility will be assessed based on where they are registered with a GP:
SWFT Maternity will continue to accept referrals from individuals registered with GPs within the Birmingham and Solihull ICS and the Banbury area (OX15, OX16, and OX17)
SWFT Maternity will not be accepting referrals from individuals registered with GPs aligned to the following ICS’s:
- NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire ICS
- NHS Gloucestershire ICS
- NHS Northamptonshire ICS
- NHS Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West ICS (except for those registered with a GP practice in the Banbury area)
- Any other ICS not specifically listed above
We will no longer accept late transfers of care for maternity services where the individual is 16+6 weeks gestation or greater at the time of transfer
These changes reflect the increasing demand for SWFT’s maternity services and the need to ensure we are providing safe, effective services within our capacity. However, this decision will remain under review and when we are able to, we will remain responsive to woman’s choices.
SWFT are implementing these changes with support from the Local Maternity and Neonatal System
