Please note: YOU MUST SEND BOTH A REFERRAL LETTER AND ATTACH A DATA SHEET

Patients with suspected insomnia will be triaged and accepted on a case by case basis and you may be asked to redirect to another service

Patients with suspected neuro-muscular conditions should be referred via the agreed pathway to the Neurology/ Neuro-rehabilitation service, as appropriate.

A fast track assessment process is in place for professional / vocational drivers – see Data Sheet below (please request this in the referral letter)

Patients should not be given a definitive diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnoea without objective evidence from a sleep study or specialist assessment, in case of adverse consequences for driving, employment etc.

If your patient has a driving licence, he/she should be advised to inform the DVLA of excessive sleepiness or tiredness. Please see link to the right for more information.
